Serious concerns are being raised from time to time on how to provide effective and hassle free education to the students with disabilities. Researchers at the Centre on Online Learning and Students with Disabilities have recommended how online and mixed education can support the students. It shows that countries like the US are seriously considering to device online education more effectively for the students with disabilities.

Researchers have pointed out on the vast canvas of online education with aspects of the mixed learning. It has mentioned about the prospect of the disabled students at online learning. Associate Professor of Special Education at University of Kansas James Basham says, “We know from our research that there are still much involved in K-12 education that don’t know this is taking place. So in the first chapter, we include a foundational understanding of the field.”

The report shows that parents of the disabled students are not happy with the traditional campus learning. According to the research the unfavourable circumstances campus learning has forces 80% of the parents to enrol their children to online education. It also shows that parents of the disabled children play a crucial role as the teacher.

Meeting the learning standard

From the report, it’s not hidden anymore that the educational need of the learners is not seriously taken. Many online learning institutes step in to grab the opportunity to enrol the learner may not always comply with the standard and quality online education. For the parents of disables students, it may not always be possible to know about the recognition and acceptance of the online education. Since most of the time these institutes shield the data government and researchers may not realise if they are catering quality and meaningful education to the disabled students meeting the standard.

According to James, “There is a notion that a great deal of data exists, and it can tell us more about online learning, every click a learner makes creates data. But it’s not necessarily being used the right way, and it doesn’t travel across platforms, making it very difficult to access.”

Scope for rectification

The report should be viewed as an imperative lesson. The indifference towards the disabled students should be uprooted and better education should be delivered to them. But it state should step forward to monitor the learning development of the students.
